Top 5 Base Locations You Are Ignoring

By ProBuilder • December 19, 2025 • 12 min read

Location is 90% of survival in 99 Nights. A good base location saves you ammo, time, and sanity. A bad one gets you wiped on Night 10 because you built on a "Pathfinding Node". In this guide, we reveal the top 5 secret locations that high-level squads use to survive Night 99.

The Three Pillars of a Good Base

Before we give you coordinates, you need to understand why a spot is good. Every S-Tier location must have three things:

  1. Chokepoints: You want enemies to funnel into a single "Kill Zone". Building in an open field means you have to defend 360 degrees. Building against a wall means 180 degrees. Building in a cave means 10 degrees.
  2. Resources: If you have to walk 5 minutes to get Water, you will die of thirst during a siege. Water must be within 50 studs.
  3. Elevation: High ground confuses Enemy AI. They struggle to pathfind up steep slopes, often getting stuck and becoming easy targets.

1. The River Bend (Stats: S-Tier)

Coordinates: 340, -120
Best For: Squads of 2-4

This is the current meta location. The river bends in a strict 'U' shape here, creating a peninsula. If you wall off the land bridge (only 20 studs wide), you are protected by deep water on 3 sides.

  • Defense: AI cannot swim fast. They move at 50% speed in water. You can shoot them like fish in a barrel.
  • Resources: Infinite fresh water. 3 Iron Nodes spawn every morning on the river bank.
  • Risk: High. Everyone wants this spot. Expect PVP on public servers.

2. The Cliffside Cave (Stats: A-Tier)

Coordinates: 110, 500
Best For: Solo Players

Located near the Northern Mountain range, this cave has only one entrance, which is conveniently just wide enough for a Double Door. The ceiling is natural rock, meaning you are immune to "Meteor Showers" (Night 40 Event).

The only downside is darkness. You must build at least 4 "Wall Torches" to keep your Sanity meter full. Also, bats spawn inside occasionally, but they are easily killed with a net.

3. The Island Fortress (Stats: S-Tier)

Coordinates: -800, 200 (Middle of Great Lake)
Best For: Mega Clans (8+ Players)

In the middle of the Great Lake lies a small island. It is large enough for a massive castle. The only way to access it is by swimming or building a bridge.
Strategy: Do NOT build a permanent bridge. Build a "Drawbridge" (Code: place wooden floors that you delete at night). This makes your base 100% raid-proof against ground units. The only threat is "Flying Harpies" starting Night 30.

4. The Pre-War Runis (Stats: B-Tier)

Coordinates: -400, -50
Best For: Early Game Rush

Why build walls when the game gives them to you? The Ruins contain indestructible stone walls left over from the lore's "Old Civilization". You cannot mine them, but you can build between them. It saves you about 1000 Stone in construction costs.

Warning: The Ruins are haunted. "Ghost" mobs spawn here starting Night 10. They phase through wood walls but are stopped by Stone walls. Upgrade your gates quickly.

5. The Sky Tree (Stats: A-Tier)

Coordinates: 550, 550 (Elf Forest)
Best For: Rangers

The "Elevated Platform" update made treehouses viable. In the Elf Forest biome, the trees are massive—200 studs tall. You can build a base entirely in the canopy.

Ground enemies (Cultists, Wolves, Bears) cannot touch you. You are practically invisible. However, you must watch out for the "Spitter" enemies that can snipe you from below. Build "Floor Traps" to drop stones on them.
