Surviving The Blood Moon (Night 50)
Night 50 is the great filter. Statistics show that 92% of solo runs end here. The sky turns blood red, the ambient music distorts into a low drone, and the enemy spawn rate triples. This is the Blood Moon. It is not just a harder night; it is a fundamental change in the game rules.
Why is Night 50 Different?
Most players treat Night 50 like Night 49. This is why they die. The Blood Moon introduces three hidden modifiers that the game does not tell you about:
- Enraged Enemies: All mobs have +50% Movement Speed and +25% Attack Damage. Cultists now run faster than the player (unless you are a Ranger on grass).
- Light Nullification: Normally, light repels "Shadows". On Night 50, Shadows spawn inside your light radius. Your campfires are useless for safety; they only provide visibility.
- The Boss Spawn: The Alpha Wendigo is guaranteed to spawn at midnight (12:00 AM game time).
Phase 1: Preparation (8:00 PM - 10:00 PM)
When the sun sets red, you have 2 hours of game time before the first wave hits. Use this time to activate your "Turtle Shell".
The "Turtle Shell" Formation
Do not try to fight outside. Retract all your squad members into the inner sanctum of your base. Close all gates. Weld all doors shut (Repair Hammer + Iron Plate). You are not hunting tonight; you are hiding.
Trap Layering: You need depth. Place "Spike Traps" in a 3-layer ring around your core. The outer ring will take out the fodder. The inner ring is for the boss.
Phase 2: The Swarm (10:00 PM - 12:00 AM)
Hundreds of "Red-Eye Cultists" will swarm your walls. They don't attack individually; they pile up. When 10 cultists stack on one wall segment, the physics engine can bug out, pushing one of them through the wall. This is called "Glitch Breaching".
Counter-Strategy: Use AOE (Area of Effect). The Molotov Cocktail is essential here. Do not throw it at the enemies; throw it at the base of your own walls outside. The fire will create a barrier that kills the stacking mobs instantly.
Phase 3: The Alpha Wendigo (12:00 AM - 4:00 AM)
At midnight, the music stops. A high-pitched scream plays globally. The Alpha has arrived.
The Alpha is different from the normal Deer. It stands 15 studs tall. It can destroy Stone Walls in 2 hits. It has 5000 HP.
How to Kill It
You cannot facetank the Alpha. It will one-shot anyone with less than 300 HP (Iron Armor maxes at 250 HP). You need to "Stun Lock" it.
- Step 1: Wait for it to charge your gate.
- Step 2: When it hits the gate, have a Heavy Class player use "Shield Bash". This stuns the boss for 3 seconds.
- Step 3: During the stun, all DPS (Rangers/Mages) unload everything. Headshots deal 2x damage.
- Step 4: Repeat. If you miss a stun, the gate breaks, and you wipe.
Phase 4: Survival (4:00 AM - 6:00 AM)
If you kill the Alpha, the minions will frenzy. They stop attacking your base and start attacking you directly, ignoring walls (phasing). This is the "Desperation Phase".
Run loops around the inside of your base. Do not stop moving. Heal constantly. You just need to last until the sun rises.
Loot Rewards
Surviving the Blood Moon grants the "Blood Survivor" badge and drops a "Crimson Chest". Inside, you possess a 100% chance to find:
- 1x Alpha Antler (Used to craft the Wendigo Spear)
- 500 Gold Coins
- blueprint_turret_lvl2 (Auto Turret)
Good luck. If you see the red moon rising, and you aren't prepared... just reset character.
